Device for compression and flexure tests on concrete specimens for hydraulic presses manual

Abstract

The objective of this research was the development of a device to perform compression and flexural tests on concrete specimens in the manual hydraulic press located in the Mechanics workshop of the Education program of the LUZ-COL Nucleus. From the theoretical point of view, it was based on authors such as Creus (2007), Valera (2005), Vanegas (2018) among others. The methodology used was descriptive, with a non-experimental field design. The referential population was constituted by four (4) professors of the Civil Engineering program, taking the 100-ton Press as the unit of analysis. The information was obtained through direct observation with the use of the observation guide, informal interviews to the referential population, as well as the documentary review of bibliographic texts, manuals and manufacturers' catalogs, as well as articles and material related to the subject available on the WEB. The design 
conditions of the press were determined, and the needs that the hydraulic press must satisfy in order to perform compression and flexural tests on concrete specimens were determined. The assembly of the components determined in the aforementioned objectives was carried out to show the physical operation of the press, verifying that it complies with all the requirements set forth in the project and thus satisfactorily fulfilling the proposed objective.
