Abstract

The exhibition "Lake, Canvas and Freedom", inaugurated in July 2023 at the Lía Bermúdez Art Center of Maracaibo, brought together the most varied authors from the world of plastic arts in Maracaibo, for the great tribute to the theme of our lake, as part of the commemoration of the bicentennial of the Bicentennial of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo. The production of the exhibition and its curatorship was in charge of Professor Aitor Romano, and the rector of the University of Zulia, Dr. Judith Aular de Durán, inaugurated the exhibition that pays tribute to Régulo Segundo Díaz Labarca, alias Kuruvinda. This tribute to Kuruvinda stands out because this painter has a work that is a precious treasure that returned to meet the public in the exhibition: it is a canvas with historical, sonorous and plastic echoes. It is a painting that by talking so much, squeezes the mind of the spectator, enriching it with multiple views of stories that happen in the heat of time, because in fractions of seconds it is possible to glimpse one of the most epic moments in the history of Lake Maracaibo: it is the work "Naval Battle of the Lake", which comes to enrich the artistic heritage of the city as it reflects in each centimeter (185 x 315) the great battle that took place in the waters of Lake Maracaibo.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
