Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the nutritional status and neurodevelopmental alterations in children from 1 to 3 years of age attended at the Piñonada Health Center in Portoviejo, during the period 2020-2021. In early childhood, it is important not to neglect the nutritional status of the child because it is the essential basis for neurodevelopment. The nutritional status through a healthy nutrition allows the enhancement of neuronal abilities for a balanced growth. Materials and Patients. The research is framed within the quantitative approach. It is considered a descriptive, field study with a cross-sectional design. The population studied consisted of a total of 255 children assisted through the Child Development Center (CDI) and Growing with our Children Units (CNH) programs at the Piñonada Health Center. Inclusion criteria were considered to be children from 1 to 3 years of age. The exclusion criteria were determined by: a) Children outside the age of 1 to 3 years). b) Children with serious chronic and/or degenerative diseases). c) Children whose parents did not accept their children to be part of the study. For data collection, forms were used for this purpose, applying the Denver II test, validated by the Ministry of Public Health for the evaluation of neurodevelopment and prevention of disabilities for infants from 0 months to 6 years of age, and the tables for the evaluation of neurodevelopment and prevention of disabilities for infants from 0 months to 6 years of age.
