Focus and scope

The Journal of the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Zulia publishes scientific articles, technical notes, quick communications and original and unpublished guest articles, that is, that have not been published or sent simultaneously to another journal for publication, by authors interested in the agricultural field vegetable and agricultural animal. If the case arises that the author or authors have sent or published their manuscript simultaneously in another journal, they may be penalized with non-publication in this journal indefinitely.

Manuscripts written in Spanish or English, with abstracts in Spanish, English (Abstract) and Portuguese (Resumo) are accepted.

Open access policy

This journal provides open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Peer review process

All manuscripts will be submitted to an initial evaluation by the Chief Editor and Associate Editors (made up of experts in the various areas of knowledge), after preliminary approval the referees will be assigned, for which the Editorial Committee reserves the right.
Instructions to authors to submit manuscripts to arbitration and publish articles that meet the publication criteria established in the journal.

The manuscripts that pass the preliminary evaluation will be refereed by specialists in the area of ​​knowledge, using the "double blind" method. All manuscripts will be sent to external referees to be evaluated, they will have two weeks to carry out the evaluation. The authors must send in a communication a list of five (5) possible referees (national and / or foreign) with their respective complete institutional postal addresses and email address, who do not belong to the same institution as the authors of the manuscript. In order to be published, at least two positive evaluations must be obtained, even when they present corrections.

The Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad del Zulia is a publication of the Institute of Agronomic Research of the Faculty of Agronomy, Universidad del Zulia, published since 1968.

Rev. Fac. Agron. (LUZ) is a scientific publication in ISSN digital format: 2477-9407. This publication is a continuation of the Printed Journal: Legal Deposit pp 196802ZU42 ISSN 0378-7818.

Rev. Fac. Agron. (LUZ) is a scientific journal with national and international recognition. The prestige of its editorial board and its authors guarantees a wide audience. It is supported by Universidad del Zulia, with the aim of disseminating the results of Venezuelan and international researchers related to the agricultural field. This journal provides open access to its content, allowing global knowledge sharing.

The journal publishes four issues per year, every three months, under a continuous publication format (rolling pass). As of June 2018, the Digital Content of the Journal is only hosted on the website of the Digital Library of Scientific and Humanistic Journals (Revicyhluz) belonging to the System of Library and Information Services (Serbiluz), of Universidad del Zulia and its official website is https://produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/agronomia

Editorial policy

Rev. Fac. Agron. (LUZ) publishes original and unpublished scientific articles, technical notes, review articles, rapid communications, in-length summaries of conferences and scientific meetings related to the agricultural area, which is the product of research of high scientific quality, promoting the exchange of publications and scientific activity at the agricultural level.

Articles in Spanish and English with abstract (Spanish), abstract and summary (Portuguese) are accepted.

Articles submitted for publication in the Journal must be original and unpublished, i.e. they have not been published or sent simultaneously to another journal for their publication or to any other means of dissemination. If the author(s) has submitted or published his/her article simultaneously in another journal or any other means of dissemination, the Journal reserves the relevant actions related to the non-publication of the articles.

II.4. The Journal publishes articles in the areas of Plant Production, Animal Production, Food Technology and Socioeconomics. The topics included in these areas are: agrosystem management, environment, agricultural biotechnology, meat science, milk science, rural development, agricultural economy, entomology, fertilizers, physiology, plant physiology, post-harvest physiology and animal reproduction, pastures and fodder, animal and plant genetics and improvement, arvenses, animal nutrition, vegetal pathology, food security, agriculture systems and soils.

II.5. Rev. Fac. Agron. (LUZ) reserves the right to accept or reject the articles submitted for their publication. The journal will make suggestions to improve the presentation and guarantee the integrity of the publication; the Editorial Board reserves the right to adjust the article to maintain uniformity in the style of the journal.

Acceptance of an evaluated and approved contribution does not imply its immediate publication. The journal also reserves the final decision for the publication of a manuscript, as well as the volume and number in which it will be published.

II.5. The authors who publish in the journal are trusted with the Creative Commons license code Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Equal 3.0 Unported, non-commercial, without derivatives, i.e., even though Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad del Zulia has free access, users can download the information contained in it, but must provide the recognition of the intellectual property, use it without any derivation and any commercial purpose.

Editorial process

III.1. Articles submitted for their publication and communications related to editorial matters should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief of Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad del Zulia, through the emails: agrorevistaluz@gmail.com and revagronomia@fa.luz.edu.ve.

Articles sent must be accompanied by the following letters:

a) An authorization letter signed by all authors, requesting their publication, accepting established editorial policies and surrendering the publishing rights.

b) A letter expressing whether or not there are conflicts of interest between the authors.

c)   A letter with a list of five (5) possible reviewers (domestic and/or foreign), with their full institutional postal addresses and e-mail address; the reviewers cannot belong to the same institution as the authors of the article.

d) Checklist.

e) In addition to the letters indicated above, the review articles shall be accompanied by a curriculum of the author/s specifying all scientific publications, projects, awards and academic activities in which the author/s has participated. The requirements must be sent electronically to the Journal. The models of the letters will be provided by the journal.

The articles will be subjected to an initial evaluation by the Editorial Board of the journal (consisting of experts in the various areas of knowledge of the field of the journal), after the preliminary approval, it will be submitted to arbitration by specialists from the area of knowledge, using the "double-blind" method. Evaluators will have two weeks to conduct this assessment.

In the event that the article obtains at least two positive opinions from the evaluators, the work may be published as long as its content is compatible with the editing times, editorial lines and thematic of the journal. Once the author/s receives the feedback from the evaluators, he/she should answer them point by point and incorporate the corresponding modifications into the text. In the event that the author/s does not assume any of the suggestions made by the evaluators, then the author/s shall justify the decision with valid arguments.

The articles corrected by the author/s must be returned to the Journal within a maximum period of two weeks to incorporate it in the publication phase, beyond this period, the decision to publish or withdraw it will be up to the Editorial Board. Two negative opinions shall exclude the possibility of publication of the proposed article, deeming it as rejected.

In the event of a positive and a negative opinion, the article shall be sent to a third evaluator, whose opinion shall be final and indisputable. When the article is accepted, the correspondence author will be informed of the volume and number of its publication.

Once the article was accepted for publication, the Editorial Board will publish its content as approved in its final version, keeping the names of the authors in the order in which they were written from the beginning of the editorial process, and the institutional addresses will remain unchanged.

Authors will be requested to send a letter signed by all authors specifying that the reproduction rights are assigned to the journal. The model of the letter will be provided electronically by the journal.

After having reviewed the style corrections and editing process, authors will receive the galley test of the article, which must be carefully reviewed and returned to the editor within a maximum period of 72 hours.

Anti-plagiarism policies and scientific fraud

Rev. Fac. Agron (LUZ) welcomes the statement of the World Association of Medical Journal Editors (WAME) regarding to the definition of plagiarism in scientific publications "Plagiarism is the use of ideas or words (or other intellectual property) published or unpublished by others, without their permission or recognition, presenting them as their own and original instead of recognizing that they come from another source. The intention and effect of plagiarism is to deceive the reader with the plagiarist's alleged contribution. This applies whether the ideas or words are taken from abstracts, research projects, applications to institutional review committee, or from published or unpublished manuscripts in any format (print or electronic)".

Rev. Fac. Agron. (LUZ) follows a strict anti-plagiarism and self-plagiarism policy for both electronic and printed sources. All the contributions will be checked with the anti-plagiarism programs Plagiarism Checker X and CrossRef Similarity Check. If a percentage of plagiarism or self-plagiarism higher than 20% is detected, the article will not be reviewed or evaluated. If it is detected after publication, a retraction note will be made.

Authors of the articles are the only responsible of the content, ideas and opinions expressed in them, therefore, they will be the ones to assume any conflicts that may arise for copyright reasons
