Abstract

At present, clinical disorders related to hemostatic alterations have been detected in patients with human and canine Cancer. In view of this reality, new diagnostic studies have been proposed, such as the D-Dimer, applicable to oncological patients in Veterinary Medicine; this test is relatively new and is useful to rule out possible thrombotic episodes and helps in the early diagnosis of diseases related to thrombosis. The objective of the present investigation was to measure the value of D-Dimer on pre surgical Cancer dogs, in which a multicentric: analysis was made on the total of 40 patients (n=40) in two Veterinary Hospitals in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. For the patients diagnosed as oncological, it was created a detail clinical history, after that was taking a blood test in a treated tube with Sodium/Citrate to be sent to the lab which would apply the technique of immunofluorescence to measure the quantity of D-Dimer through the equipment V check v 200, Bionote,China, also sample in a tube with EDTA to check the blood count, also it was analyzed the histopathology of the 40 patients with their respective staging and it was correlated with the results of D-Dimer. Among the most relevant results of hemangiosarcoma tumors and the carcinoma, it was the most common in presenting elevations of D-Dimer as alterations on platelet count. Regarding to the results, D-Dimer correlation was found with the type and grade of tumor, as well as D-Dimer and platelet count; in this studio tumors such as hemangiosarcomas of the spleen, carcinomas and adenocarcinomas were the most common in presenting D-Dimer elevations, as well as those that presented high histological grade.
