ABSTRACT

Objective of the work was to improve feeding system based on commercial balanced feed, sugarcane and preserved fodder (hay and silage), using ration formulation and incorporating available agro-industrial byproducts (citrus pulp and bran) to increase production, reduce costs of feeding and the incidence of mastitis in herd Carora (Bos taurus). The trial lasted 20 weeks (w), 10 w for each group evaluated, two w of adaptation to rations in each group. Diets were composed of: Balanced feed and / or reed cane, Mineral, Fat, Optigen, Silo (Corn), Hay (Cynodon dactilon), Molasses, and / or Wheat bran and / or Fresh citrus pulp according to current management (A) and the proposed (P) per roll made for each batch. The groups for the application of the treatments corresponded to those handled in the production unit (PU) in collective pens: heifers; fresh cows (without heifers, 2 or more births) remain in batch for 55 days (d) postpartum); cows in the first third of lactation (from d 56 to d 145 of lactation) remain 90 d in batch; cows in the second third of lactation (from d 146 to d 235 of lactation) remain 90 d in batch; and cows in the last third of lactation until drying (> 235 d of lactation). In general, the lots that received proposed rations (P), compared to those handled in the PU (A), produced more milk, between 1.58 and 4 liters (L) more per d cow. When the average production was adjusted to 305 d of lactation, an expected average lactation of 2775 L (9.10 L / cow / d) was obtained for treatment A, while for P treatment an average expected lactation of 3658 L (11 , 99 L / cow / d), a difference per lactation of 883 L (2.90 L / cow / d). The individual and collective production of the herd was increased by balancing the nutrients offered, reducing the supply of commercial balanced feed and the consequent decrease in the costs of feeding the herd. Mastitis remained within the ranges considered acceptable for the PU.
