This article explains the literacy education policy during the period of the National Front in Colombia (1958-1974), both in its relationship with international and regional organizations, as well as its impact on the education of Colombians. Basically, global design is interrelated with its local implementation; at the same time, the percentage reduction of illiteracy in Colombia is investigated. Finally, the National Front governments complied with the external "suggestions" and did not promote innovations for solving the problem of illiteracy from the circumstances of the Colombian case. However, this attitude produced favorable but selective results with respect to the percentage reduction as occurred in most Latin American countries. ER -
