Abstract

How emotionally intelligent are the executives in Logistical Services Management
at the PDVSA West Division? Do their attributes match their emotional
intelligence levels? This research was oriented toward identifying the emotional
intelligence coefficient level of executive personnel in the PDVSA West Division
Logistical Services Management as well as describing levels of presence forthe
emotionally intelligent executives’ attributes. The study was based on research
by Mayer and Salovey (1997), Goleman (1998; 2000; 2001), Gil’Adí (2000), Ryback (2001), Cooper and Sawaf (2002) and Stelzer (2010). The research was descriptive, documentary and of the field type, with a non-experimental, transsectional design. The population consisted of 17 executives, unit leaders in the management under study. Data was collected using the Ryback Test of Executive Emotional Quotient (RTEEQ). Data was analyzed and interpreted using
descriptive-type statistical analysis. Emotional intelligence levels found at the
general level were stars (76%) and superstars (24%); nevertheless, low and moderate levels were registered for the emotionally intelligent executives’ attributes. The final thought is that it is not enough to have a star or superstar’s emotional quotient to guarantee emotional intelligence and practice it; it is a must to show which attributes are strengthened and which have to be improved in order to consolidate the practice of a healthy emotional intelligence.</p>}, number={1}, journal={Impacto Científico}, author={Álvarez, Thaís and Mijares, Brizeida and Zambrano, Egilde}, year={2020}, month={jul.}, pages={29-48} }
