http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e979889

Cuban higher education faces challenges in the teaching of social sciences, aimed at the development of critical thinking with relevant didactic strategies for the competent and committed training of university students. The present work aims to substantiate the need to integrate critical pedagogical paradigms and social sciences —such as complex thinking, critical pedagogies, Marxism, the philosophy of praxis, and colonizing approaches— into social science education in Cuban higher education. Through a theoretical-critical approach, the epistemological foundations suggest their application in subjects such as Philosophy, Political Economy, and Political Theory. The proposal emphasizes the importance of transitioning from traditional models to transformative pedagogical approaches that promote critical reflection and social praxis.
Edith Adolfina GONZÁLEZ PALMIRAJudith ACOSTA GONZÁLEZYaimara VÁZQUEZ MOLINA

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e195586

The concept of "Women in Refrigerators" (WiR), coined by Gail Simone in 1999, refers to the narrative practice in which female characters are killed, harmed, abused, or stripped of agency to advance a male character's storyline. This trope appears recurrently across literature, theater, television, comics, video games, and especially cinema. As cinema constitutes a dominant narrative medium in contemporary cultural consumption, its patterns of representation significantly influence and reshape social reality.
Romano PONCE DÍAZXimena DÍAZ SANTILLÁNIván ÁVILA GONZÁLEZ

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e310456

This paper presents a quantitative and qualitative comparative study of a corpus of lexical units related to violence in students of the sixth year of primary, third year of secondary school and third year of high school of public and private schools in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. The words that make up this type of text are the result of research on lexical availability based on the centers of interest: drug trafficking, indigenism and politics. The collected corpus allows to infer the conceptions and points of view of the collective imaginary of this sample of students on the problem of violence that today lives in Mexico. A comparative study of the lexical corpus used led to the conclusion that there were no significant differences between the different subsystems of education. This research shows that there is a similarity in certain words in the interest centers of indigenism and drug trafficking. The work done from semantics and sociolinguistics can contribute to different approaches and debates on violence from different implications social, economic, political and cultural development, which is one of the great challenges of the 21st century.
Manuel Martín ORAMAS DÍAZ Tsiue CHÁVEZ GALLEGOSIvanka GUTIÉRREZ GONZÁLEZ

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e781280

For over a century, neuroscience has stood as a consolidated scientific discipline in its modern conception, thanks to Nobel Prize laureate in Medicine Santiago Ramón y Cajal, who left us significant advances in the development—and especially the functioning—of the brain. If we consider it as a traditional doctrine of knowledge, its origins go much further back, to ancient Greek times, exalted and passed down by the forefathers of science. It was only at the end of the last century that this discipline broke into and impacted the field of education—rightfully and fortunately. Neuroeducation was coined by Professor Gerhard Preiss in 1988 as the application of neuroscience to education, meant to enrich rather than oppose it. With it came the phenomenon known as neuromyths—or myths about the brain—a term introduced by neurosurgeon Alan Crockard in 1986 and later reinforced in the educational field by Professor John T. Bruner in 1997. This article traces the evolution and impact of each of these disciplines, as well as the unfortunate phenomenon of neuromyths—and, of course, their overcoming as threats to sound teaching practices.
Antonio RODRÍGUEZ FUENTESDorka Isarel SOSA MEDRANOTamara Beatriz HERNÁNDEZ ORTEGA

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e644794

Scientific evidence has shown that Chilean children in residential care homes have gone through several adverse childhood experiences, which significantly impact their socioemotional development. This article purports to explore EFL pre-service teachers' perceptions of the connection between playful and multisensory teaching practices and the socioemotional development of children whose rights have been infringed. This qualitative exploratory and descriptive research is conducted at Universidad Austral de Chile. The study sample is composed of eleven EFL pre-service teachers who participated in the Project "Playing with my Senses in English’’. Data are collected through semi-structured interviews that were further studied using the content analysis method. The data analysis shows a direct relationship between playful and multisensory teaching practices and children’s socioemotional development. Results show that playful and multisensory teaching practices, grounded in the foreign language as a new tool of communication, lovingness, motivation and a sense of community, foster children’s socioemotional development.

Yasna YILORMMaite NAUTO VILO

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e308501

The study examines linguistic interaction on social media as a reflection of social and cultural dynamics. Based on social constructionism (Berger & Luckmann, 2023) and discourse analysis (Fairclough & Scholz, 2020), the main purpose is to analyze how the inhabitants of Punto Fijo use language on digital platforms to construct identity and negotiate meanings. Four categories are addressed: cultural identity, meaning negotiation, social relationships, and emotional expression. The methodology follows an interpretive qualitative approach (Creswell & Poth, 2018), using ethnomethodology (Esquivel, 2016) to understand how users construct meanings on social media. Digital discourse analysis (Fairclough & Scholz, 2020) and semantic networks were applied using Atlas.ti software (Monterroza, 2024). The sample was intentional, selecting ten active users on Instagram and Facebook based on interaction frequency and willingness to participate, following the non-probabilistic sampling technique by Vehovar & Toepoel (2016). The findings revealed that digital language in Punto Fijo preserves regional expressions such as "voj" and "rolo e’ vivo", while terms like "influencer" are redefined in the local context. Cultural identity is reinforced on social media, allowing the negotiation of meanings based on external and internal influences. In terms of social relationships, words like "pana" and "llave" continue to strengthen community bonds, while metrics such as "likes" redefine social validation. Additionally, emotional expression is conveyed through emojis and exclamations, shaping a digital emotional grammar. In conclusion, social media is not just a platform for interaction that reflects the cultural identity of Punto Fijo, but also a transformative element, consolidating an underlying communication where language and community are interconnected in the digital environment. The importance of future research on linguistic evolution in globalized virtual environments is highlighted.

Olaguer Jose BETANCOURT GARCIA

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e728791

Heritage, culture, and national and local identity are elements of heritage education knowledge. The professional performance of tour guides from various travel agencies is fraught with multiple challenges related to acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to interpret, communicate, and value cultural and natural heritage, enabling them to offer a meaningful experience with greater impact to visitors. Artificial intelligence does not replace the tour guide, but rather stands as a powerful tool that enhances their capabilities. A training design that updates the use of artificial intelligence tools in heritage education for tour guides enhances their professional performance as cultural mediators and promoters of heritage conservation, which also contributes to the sustainability of tourism. Hence, the objective of this article: to demonstrate the potential of artificial intelligence for heritage education for tour guides.
Taysé OSUNA TORRIENTELissette JIMÉNEZ SÁNCHEZ

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e851651

This work contributes to the research project Adolescents, Reading, and Digital Platforms (PN223LH-015-015). An exploratory study was conducted with students from the Rafael María de Mendive Pre-University Institute (2025) in the province of Santiago de Cuba. The objective was to diagnose the current state of their literary reading practices on digital platforms from a sociocultural perspective. To this end, theoretical and empirical methods were applied, which revealed limitations in actual reading habits in digital environments. A participatory action research (PAR) methodology is proposed, which allows not only to diagnose, but also to co-design digital reading strategies with the educational community.
Liette GÁMEZ RODRÍGUEZYusmila FELIPE PUEBLA

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e468027

The essay aims to assess the complexity of the demands and challenges facing education and schools, with an emphasis on teacher performance, taking into account contemporary technological, cultural, scientific, and social transformations. It emphasizes the idea that the success of quality education is not only determined by access to it, but also by the comprehensive training of teachers, their influence on educational processes and curriculum updates, as well as the integration of science and technology, especially the use of artificial intelligence. It defends the idea that schools should constitute a space for social transformation, and for this, it is necessary to revalue teacher performance to foster collaborative, ethical education that fosters autonomous learning.
Elmys ESCRIBANO HERVISRuhadmi BOULET MARTÍNEZ

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e237554

This essay arises from the imaginary concern that Artificial Intelligence can supplant humans and even surpass their reasoning. Therefore, the relationship between humans and computers is compromised when response mechanisms demonstrate skills and mastery over the topics presented, which impacts human perception and subjectivity. For this reason, we begin with the above assumptions in order to reflect on the impact AI has on humans and whether it is the cause or at least the driver of human evolution, in order to gain a clearer understanding of what this could mean on the evolutionary scale. In this sense, it is studied from the ontological, epistemological, and axiological implications, taking into account the philosophical perspectives of evolutionary transcendence. It is concluded that evolution is a complex and multifactorial process, and that AI is merely a contributing element to the speed of human evolution. Therefore, it can hardly be assumed that it is the main cause. However, it can be stated without a doubt that it is one of the factors that have become visible and, to a certain extent, tangible, influencing this process through robotics.
Raquel LAMUS GARCÍA DE MORATibisay Milene LAMUS DE RODRÌGUEZ

http://www.produccioncientificaluz.org/index.php/utopia/article/view/e978094

Heritage education is presented as a fundamental tool for fostering the development of creative economies in cities with historical and cultural value. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, using instruments such as participant observation, document analysis, interviews, and questionnaires; content analysis was used to process the information. This paper explores the relationship between both concepts, with special attention to the Urban Historic Center of Matanzas, Cuba. It is argued that heritage education not only preserves cultural identity but also fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic sustainability. Through an argumentative approach, it demonstrates how the integration of these elements can transform Matanzas into a benchmark for creative and heritage development in the Cuban and international context.
